Mardy Schweitzer
President
Mardy is the founder and President of Horizon. After graduating college, Mardy found a job in New York, NY as a clerk-typist for an import-export company. Her fascination with the business of transportation continued after she moved to northern California where she pursued employment with steamship companies, steamship agencies, and freight consolidators. She was transferred to Houston during the oil boom of the 1980’s and finally she went out on her own in 1988. Her deep affection for the shipping industry has continued to grow through the years. Although technically her own boss, Mardy knows the customer is the real person in charge.
Mardy earned a Bachelor of Science in Languages & Linguistics from Georgetown University and is currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration at the University of Houston Clear Lake. She is a licensed Customs Broker and is active in several local and national transportation clubs. She has served as a guest lecturer at University of Houston’s Center for Logistics and Transportation Policy and aspires to one day teach a transportation class at the college level.
Mardy enjoys gardening, traveling, going to museums and shopping. She has one daughter who lives in Austin. She is fluent in Spanish and is an active member of her local synagogue.
